Zephyr through Stone

Overview

Released Sep 20th, 2026

Zephyr Through Stone was inspired by Blue Mountain Vineyard and Cellars’ Block 14 “Gravel Force” Pinot Noir 2023 from Okanagan Falls.

What caught me first was the perfume.

Red cherry, lychee, potpourri and a lifted floral character sat above a concentrated, juicy core. There was weight to the wine, but it never felt heavy. The acidity kept everything moving and gave the wine a kind of internal energy.

It was initially intended as an instrumental SenArch piece, but the resulting track moved me enough that I created an extended version as a tribute to the land and the people behind the wine.

Inspiration

The wine had this really interesting contrast between perfume and concentration. I was getting red cherry, lychee, potpourri and this almost perfume-like floral character, but underneath that there was still a pretty solid core. Juicy, concentrated, but not heavy.

The acidity gave it a lot of energy.

That was the part that really stuck with me.

It wasn’t just “this smells floral” or “this has good acidity.” It was the way everything moved together. The perfume felt like it was floating above the wine, while the structure underneath stayed grounded.

That became the idea of zephyr and stone.

The zephyr was the fragrance and movement.

The stone was the structure and concentration.

At first, I imagined wind moving through open space and slowly revealing something massive underneath. You don’t see the stone right away. You see the air moving around it first.

That felt very close to how I experienced the wine.

The perfume came first.

Then the structure showed itself.

The original plan was just to make an instrumental SenArch piece from that.

But once I heard the result, it hit me harder than I expected.

It felt like there was more in it than just the wine.

I started thinking about where the wine actually came from.

Okanagan Falls.

The lake, the mountains, the dry air, sage, stone, evening light, wind moving through the valley.

And also the people connected to that land and the people who turned it into the wine I was drinking.

That was when I decided to extend the piece and add vocals.

I didn’t want to imitate Indigenous music or pretend I was representing something that wasn’t mine. I just wanted the extended version to acknowledge that this wine came from a real place, with a much longer history than the bottle in front of me.

The lyrics started pulling in more of that landscape.

The lake.

The sage.

The mountains.

Old trails.

Evening light.

Wind.

Memory.

The original SenArch structure is still there underneath everything.

The low 40 Hz foundation is the stone.

The flute and the vocal movement carry the zephyr.

The music keeps opening up, but the weight underneath never disappears.

At some point, the idea shifted again and I started thinking about it as the stone singing the zephyr.

That was probably the moment the piece became something more than a direct wine translation for me.

It became a tribute to the land, the people behind the wine, and the energy I felt coming through the glass.

That is what Zephyr Through Stone became.

A taste that honours the land.

Lyrics

Golden drifting glow
Crimson shimmer flow

Through the quiet turning air
Past the amber evening flare
Beyond the softly gilded glare

Silken swaying light
Perfumed silver flight

Golden currents drifting slow
Through the fading afterglow
Where the distant echoes flow

Ever unfolding
Ever unfolding

Aira reya-aa
Orah leya-aa

Ha-ya-hey
Oh-ah-lay

Aira no-aa
Carry away

Oh-ah-lay
Elya ya-aa

Velvet lingering flame
Fragrant silver haze

Across the slowly widening sky
Beyond the lake where swallows fly
Where the western colours lie

Ancient luminous grace
Weightless open space

Gentle echoes drifting wide
Through the starlit mountainside
Past the sage on evening tide

Ever awakening
Ever awakening

Aira reya-aa
Orah leya-aa

Ha-ya-hey
Oh-ah-lay

Aira no-aa
Drifting away

Oh-ah-lay
Elya ya-aa

Airaaaa-aa
Orahhhh-aa

Hey-ya-haaa-aa
Oh-ah-lay

Shimmering afterglow
Softly breathing low

Golden resonance
Lingering elegance

Old trails remembering
Night winds wandering

Higher through the firelight
Farther through the fading light

Ancient echoes answering
Silent summits gathering

Ever rising
Ever higher

Ever calling
Ever brighter

Airaaaaa reyaaaaa-aa
Orahhhhh leyaaaaa-aa

Hey-ya-haaaaa-aa
Oh-ah-layaaaa-aa

Aira no-aa
Carry away

Oh-ah-lay
Elya ya-aa

Airaaaaa-aa
Orahhhhh-aa

Hey-ya-haaa-aa
Oh-ah-lay-aa

Farther away-aa-aa
Higher away-aa-aa

Airaaaaa reyaaaaa-aa
Orahhhhh leyaaaaa-aa

Hey-ya-haaaaa-aa
Oh-ah-layaaaa-aa

Zephyr…
