空の羽 — Sora no Hane is a bilingual song sung by Ava about becoming stronger not in spite of hardship, but through what hardship leaves behind.
The recording unfolds as a gradual ascent. It begins with space and restraint, gathers strength in recurring waves, then opens fully after Ava declares:
I will fly, I won’t hide
Beautiful sky, it is my time
Her sustained cry of “Sora no Hane” passes into an instrumental bridge before the song reaches its final height. It does not treat resilience as instant victory. Strength accumulates slowly—through uncertainty, altered paths, fear and acceptance—until flight feels earned.
Ava is never named in the lyrics because she is not the person being encouraged from a distance. She is the voice making the promise.

The story began with Martin’s Lane Hyland Vineyard Riesling 2024.
Following the devastating cold snap in British Columbia, Martin’s Lane looked beyond its home vineyards and found another path in Oregon. At Hyland Vineyard, the season brought its own complication: botrytis affected a significant portion of the fruit. Yet what appeared imperfect did not diminish the wine. It contributed concentration, texture and complexity.
In the glass, the wine felt bright and lifted—green apple, lime, lemon peel and white flowers—yet it also carried marmalade, warmth and a deeper savoury quality. Its acidity was high but not piercing. Its long finish seemed to remain suspended rather than fall away.
The image that kept returning was a pristine white dove gliding through an open sky.
That image became the song’s emotional language. The altered course became a new horizon. Resistance became wind. Scars became openings through which light could enter. Shadow did not extinguish brightness; it gave brightness depth.
This is the meaning behind two central lines:
The storm is written in my wings.
Every shadow deepens blue.
The title 空の羽—Sora no Hane—can be read poetically as “Feather of the Sky” or “The Sky’s Feather.” Sora means sky, but to an English ear it also brushes against soar. The phrase carries its meaning in its sound: light, open and seemingly still in flight.
