Cultural Context: In the Chinese Zodiac, "Yǒu Shí" (5 PM – 7 PM, the Hour of the Rooster) shares its root character "酉" with the word for alcohol (酒), symbolizing the transition from the labor of the day to the extraction of essence.
The Question: The song repeatedly asks, "General! At the Hour of the Rooster, can the armor be cast aside?". This captures the tension of a soldier’s constant readiness and the "heavenly decree" of the spirit, which can only be opened and enjoyed in its proper season.
