  • WSET Level 2 Award in Wines is a beginner- to intermediate-level qualification exploring wines, suitable for industry professionals and wine enthusiasts.

    This qualification is intended for beginners wishing to learn about a wide range of wines or those seeking to build on the introductory knowledge gained with the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines. You’ll gain knowledge of the principal and regionally important grape varieties of the world, the regions in which they are grown, and the styles of wine they produce. Through a combination of tasting and theory, you’ll explore the factors that impact style and quality and learn how to describe these wines with confidence.

      • How to taste and describe wine using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine®(SAT)

      • How environmental factors, grape-growing, winemaking and maturation options influence the style and quality of wines made from eight principal grape varieties:

      • Chardonnay

      • Pinot Grigio/Gris

      • Sauvignon Blanc

      • Riesling

      • Cabernet Sauvignon

      • Merlot

      • Pinot Noir

      • Syrah/Shiraz

      • The style and quality of wines made from 22 regionally important grape varieties produced in over 70 geographical indications (GIs) around the world

      • How grape varieties and winemaking processes influence key styles of

      • Sparkling wines

      • Fortified wines

      • Key labelling terms used to indicate origin, style and quality

      • Principles and processes involved in the storage and service of wine

      • Principles of food and wine pairing

      • You will be tasting a minimum of 43 samples to understand the key varieties and regions covered in the course.

      Classroom setting provides the students with more interactive guided learning experience. If you are unable to fit it into your busy schedule, we also provide online distance learning option:

      Online Distance Learning

      The course is based around a 5-week, 6-module online programme with a recommendation of 6 hours study per week to cover the online activities and read the relevant chapters in the textbook. Regular access and participation in the course online activities is essential for this mode of study.

      At VinoZen Academy, we are also committed to offer you dedicated guidance and also available for live online tutorial sessions upon request to better help with your learning.

  • This qualification has a minimum requirement of 28 hours of study time:

    • 16 hours of lesson time

    • 11 hours of personal study and revision

    • A 1-hour examination

    There are no entry requirements for this qualification. You must be of legal drinking age in the country where you are attending the course to participate in any alcohol tasting.

    Assessment is an one-hour closed-book examination comprised of 50 multiple-choice questions.

    On successful completion of the examination you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin, and will be able to use the associated WSET certified logo.

    This qualification is regulated by Ofqual.

    To attend the course:

    • Please be on time and ready to learn.

    • You will receive a copy of Level 2 Study Pack that includes: Textbook, Study Guide, and SAT

    • Please bring writing utensil.

    • Please bring 6 neutral and clear tasting glasses.

    • Mobile Operating System Native App Support - Android apps require version 5.0 or later and iOS apps require version 11 or later. All Android and iOS both support the two most recent versions of their respective operating systems.

    • Computer Speed and Processor - use a computer 5 years old or newer when possible, 1GB of RAM, 2GHz processor.

    • Internet Speed - along with compatibility and web standards, system carefully crafted to accommodate low bandwidth environments, minimum of 512kbps
