From the hyper-specific, pretentious drink orders to the absolute chaos of a packed rail, surviving the shift while maintaining high standards is an art form. I wanted to use this track to promote mindful appreciation and lounge etiquette that goes beyond surface-level ritualistic behaviours—like ordering a “bruised vodka with a spherical ice” because it sounds cinematic, or making the rather inconsiderate decision to order six Ramos Gin Fizzes during peak hour while demanding immediate perfection.
A huge part of this shift comes down to customer education. I want to encourage people to pay just a little more attention to what they are actually ordering. Instead of treating a beverage as a mere prop or a quick social lubricant, take a moment to understand the flavor profile, the ingredients, and the intention behind the build. When you order with curiosity and intention rather than just blindly following a trend, you elevate your own experience and truly honor the craft in your glass.
Yet, the vast majority of popular culture portrays nightlife strictly from the perspective of the party-goers. The shouting, the dancing, the shots, and the wasteful behaviors are somehow framed as the pinnacle of a lifestyle, completely overlooking the unsung heroes who work behind the bar, and by extension, the service industry as a whole.
Ultimately, these passionate professionals dedicate their lives to mastering a craft that is entirely focused on your enjoyment. They are the architects of your evening. So next time you pull up a stool, take a moment to appreciate the artistry in your glass, read the room before you order, and treat the person behind the wood with the respect they deserve.
